Succeeding ongoing Chairman Tsutomu Umeno who has stepped aside upon expiry of the term, Mr. Hans Tempel, Representative Director and President/CEO of Mercedes-Benz Japan Co., Ltd., was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Japan Automobile Importers Association (JAIA).
Mr. Tempel was named as the new JAIA Chairman at its 43rd General Assembly and 2nd Board Meeting of the fiscal year held May 27 at the Tokyo Prince Hotel.
For his inauguration, Mr. Tempel stated as follows: “It is an honor to assume the weighty responsibility, especially as the first non-Japanese Chairman of the Association. JAIA will continue to offer a wide range of imported motor vehicles with the highest safety standards and innovative environmental technology for the sake of the Japanese road traffic and the whole of the society. The fascination and aspiration, which many of these world renowned brands and products create, will hopefully help to revitalize the Japanese Automotive market.”
In addition, other officials including Vice Chairmen, Directors and Auditors were reelected and appointed as shown in the attachment.
